PSA oxygen generation systems typically output oxygen at a pressure of 0.2–0.5 MPa; however, certain applications require higher pressures than this output level provides. To meet these higher-pressure requirements, an oxygen booster is necessary. An oxygen booster is a device designed to process the oxygen produced by the system and increase its output pressure.
There are two common scenarios requiring increased oxygen pressure:
1.Meeting terminal usage pressure requirements: Medical oxygen generators are used to drive respiratory equipment or fill oxygen cylinders.
2.Long-distance transmission: Boosting the pressure compensates for pipeline pressure losses, ensuring the oxygen maintains the required pressure after traveling long distances.
Medical oxygen: 0.4 – 0.6 MPa
· Adaptability: Capable of handling fluctuations in PSA oxygen output.
· Fault Alarms and Interlocks: System shutdown is triggered by excessive temperature, vibration, or pressure.
· Continuous Operation: Supports 24/7 uninterrupted operation.
· Key Component Lifespan: Valves/piston rings (1 million cycles); bearings (minimum 60,000 hours).
· Leakage Rate: ≤50 ppm for dynamic seals (shaft seals).
· Flow Rate: No less than the peak output flow of the PSA system.
· Dew Point: ≤-40°C.
· Outlet Oxygen Temperature: ≤ Ambient temperature + 15°C (to prevent high-temperature catalytic reactions).
In a PSA oxygen generation system, the oxygen booster is a critical component for ensuring the quality of the oxygen supplied to the end-use point; its primary function is to raise the oxygen pressure to meet specific operational requirements. At the same time, it is essential to understand and strictly adhere to relevant safety standards for oxygen boosters to prevent fire or explosion hazards associated with the equipment.
